Search Like a Pro

MyAIBox indexes the full text of every conversation you have had, not just titles. Open the search bar in the sidebar (or press the search shortcut) and type any phrase you remember — a function name, a question you asked, a snippet of an answer. Results appear instantly, ranked by relevance, with the matching text highlighted.

This alone changes how you use AI. You no longer have to remember which chat something was in; you only have to remember a word or two of what was said. The search runs locally and works offline, so it is fast even on a large history.

Plain keyword search covers most needs, but operators give you precision. Use quotes for an exact phrase: `"react useEffect cleanup"` finds only chats containing that exact sequence. Combine terms to narrow: `postgres index` matches chats with both words, in any order.

You can scope a search to a folder with the folder filter in the search panel, and combine that with tags to slice across projects. The most powerful habit is to search first, then refine — start broad, see what comes back, and add a term or a filter to narrow.

This matters more than it sounds. When you remember "I asked an AI about this last month" but cannot recall which one, cross-platform search finds it regardless of where you had the conversation. Search finds a conversation; bookmarks save a specific answer. When you land on a response you will want again — a code snippet, a checklist, a polished paragraph — bookmark it. Bookmarks are stored separately from the chat so you can return to the exact answer without scrolling through a long thread.

Bookmarks are searchable too, so your saved answers become a personal knowledge base over time. Pair bookmarks with tags for an extra layer: tag a bookmark "snippet" or "checklist" and you can pull up all your saved code or lists in one query.

The more you rely on search, the less you need to organize — within reason. A good search means you do not need a folder for every topic; you can find anything by content. Use folders for the handful of projects you actively work in, and let search handle the long tail of everything else.
